Altro has provided walls, floors and ceilings for new changing facilities as part of an expansion at Axe Vale Canoe Club, in Seaton, Devon.
The club, which has 100 members, offers a wide variety of canoeing disciplines including touring, white water and sea paddling, in both canoes and kayaks.
Chris Cullen, Project Manager at Axe Vale Canoe Club, said: “We are fast outgrowing our facilities because our membership is expanding so rapidly. To create the new changing area we converted a 50m2 kayak store and built a new extension.
“I have been in the building business for many years, so I know all about Altro products and have used them with great success. We sat down with Altro and talked through the project, our needs and the many alternatives, and came up with a specification.
That was the key to the whole project. They were very helpful and knowledgeable. Once we knew what we wanted we could get on with the planning and work schedule.”
The new build comprises four changing rooms, two separate toilets and one large communal meeting room.
One hundred sheets of Altro WhiterockTM wall cladding were used in the changing areas and showers. This cost-effective sheet is extruded from a high quality, PVCu polymer for operating temperatures up to 60oC. It is easy to clean, impact resistant and grout-free. It meets current EU Directives on health and hygiene.
In addition, 250m2 of Altro Whiterock Hygienic Ceilings were fitted in the changing areas and showers. This product forms an impervious, hygienic virtually maintenance-free system which can be hosed down in situ and provides a bright, durable surface which helps reduce condensation.
